How Often Should You Schedule House Cleaning?

The most common question we get in Kenner and across Greater New Orleans isn't about price — it's about frequency. How often does a house actually need professional cleaning? The honest answer is that it depends far less on square footage than most people assume, and far more on how many people live there, whether there are pets, and how much time anyone realistically has to keep up between visits.

Weekly cleaning makes sense for households with children, pets, or anyone working long or irregular hours. At this frequency nothing ever compounds: bathrooms stay ahead of mildew, kitchen surfaces never build grease, and floors get cleaned before dirt gets ground in. Weekly clients also tend to spend the least per visit, because there's simply less accumulated work each time we arrive.

Bi-weekly is the most popular choice, and for good reason. It works well for couples, small families, and anyone who does light tidying themselves but doesn't want to spend a weekend scrubbing. Two weeks is roughly the point at which bathrooms and kitchens start to visibly need attention in our climate — humidity here accelerates mildew growth considerably compared to drier regions.

Monthly service fits single-occupant homes, second properties, or households that clean regularly themselves and want a periodic reset. Be aware that a month between visits means each appointment does more work, so monthly cleans typically cost more per visit than a bi-weekly plan does.

Whichever frequency you pick, we'd suggest starting with a one-time deep clean. It brings the whole home to a consistent baseline — grout, baseboards, inside cabinets, appliance interiors — so every recurring visit afterward is genuinely maintaining a clean house rather than slowly catching up to one.

Not sure which schedule fits? Tell us your bedroom and bathroom count, whether you have pets, and how the house tends to look by the end of a normal week. We'll recommend a frequency honestly, even when it's the less expensive one.
